Traffic tickets–from major violations like DUI to minor infractions like seat belt ticket–can jeopardize your license, trigger heavy fines, traffic safety school, raise your insurance rates, and affect your ability to carry on with your life. Dickson Law Group, LLC has extensive experience defending motorists in traffic court.
For most violations it is possible to receive court supervision with no conviction
Court supervision is the minimum sentence Illinois allows upon adjudication of liability for a traffic ticket, and it allows your ticket to be dismissed without a conviction on your record if you comply with the terms imposed by the court.
Upon receiving a disposition of court supervision, the court will order that you pay fines and court costs. For motorists under the age of 21, traffic safety school is mandatory.
If you pay your fine and court costs within the time frame ordered by the court and receive no other moving violations during the term of your supervision (typically 90 days), the ticket will be dismissed without a conviction. Because there is no conviction, no points will be assessed to your license. Also, because there is no conviction, this disposition will not trigger the mandatory license suspension handed down the the Illinois Secretary of State for 3 convictions in any 12-month period.
